RHCDO embark upon Environmental Education

At a time when the environment is being compromised, it is important to start acting on its regeneration. We have to be conscious and act for the preservation of our environment and ecosystem.

AWARENESS:

Children should be taught to care for their surroundings at a very early age.

RHCDO is concerned for the environment and teaches local people (children and adults) to plant trees and recycle throught many and varied actions.

We started a sustainable garden at the Zion Way Cultural Center, have planted hundreds of vetiver grass to stabalise the soil on the mountainsides, planted 165 trees with the Rose Hall Government School and registered for the Treeloympics ( a worldwide competition).

In partnership with Richmond Vale Academy (RVA) we have taken many actions for the preservation and protection of our environment.

For The World Environmental day in 2014, we recycled about 90 kg of plastic bottles and cans , we are planning to have our own recycling point from the end of 2014 and raise awarness about wastes.

Twice a year we invole local children, students and volunteers from Richmond Vale Academy to come to Rose Hall and participate in the river clean up. We care very much for our rivers and Falls, they are very important for our community life and customs.

RHCDO educates farmers to grow and sell organic food. To promote their business we encourage the farmers to create cooperatives and diversify their cultures. Rose Hall aims for a self-sustainable farming.
