Missions and Objectives

Looking Towards a Green Community

The RHCDO is working hard to stay strategically focused on conserving our Cultural Heritage and creating programs to offer to our young people job opportunities and a better lifestyle.  Our mission is to keep our culture and origins alive and stop the degradation of our Islands natural environment. We want to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

To achieve this mission, we work with partners to save biodiversity and reduce humanity’s impact on natural habitats.

Eight objectives will bring our vision to reality:

  1. Rehabilitation of the existing (motorable) access road and the footpath to the natural site.

  2. Construction of a sustainable building (ie. a gazebo) and rehabilitation of monuments.

  3. Minimize negative economic, environmental, and social impacts.

  4. Generate greater economic benefits for local people and enhance the well-being of Rose Hall community by improving the working conditions and access to new job opportunities.

  5. Involve local people in decisions that affect their lives and life changes.

  6. Make positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage and maintain the world’s natural resources through environmental education, and tree planting.

  7. Provide enjoyable experiences for tourists that include meaningful connections with local people, and provide an understanding of local cultural, social, and environmental issues.

  8. Offer a wide range of sustainable services and accommodations such as a shuttle bus between Rose Hall and Kingstown or the airport, and eco-friendly lodging at sustainable hospitality destinations.

A New Beginning
for Rose Hall

Our focus is to grow and accelerate our socio-economic development by creating a professional training program for local people to become professional cultural practitioners.  We will train a group of 15 people to work as nature tour guides, environment educators, biodiversity guardians, and encourage the sustainable use of our natural resources.

Promoting an Environment of Exchange

By promoting the sustainable development of the Rose Hall community, we will enhance the local and international perception of Rose Hall as a village rich in heritage and culture. This will be done by giving the its citizens an opportunity to explore their own cultural identity within new contexts and environments by freely exchanging ideas, dialogue, and creativity.
